How it started
At Greek My Mind, we specialize in teaching Greek as a foreign language to adults and children from all over the world. Our goal has always been simple: to make Greek easy, fun, interactive, and truly personal.
Students can learn with us online from anywhere in the world, in person at our office in Pagrati, Athens, or independently through our e-courses and e-books. Most of our learning material is created by us and designed specifically for students of Greek as a foreign language.
We believe that no two students learn in exactly the same way. That’s why we create a personalized lesson plan based on each student’s level, needs, goals, interests, and learning pace, with clear milestones that guide them toward their goal as effectively as possible.
Our method combines structured learning with interactive teaching and real-life Greek. We use texts, dialogues, visual material, exercises, videos, songs, quizzes, role-playing, and everyday situations to help students not only understand the language, but actually use it with confidence.
Because for us, learning Greek is not simply about grammar and vocabulary. It’s about communicating, understanding the culture, and creating a real connection with Greece.

Our Founder & CEO
Meet Maria Vakouftsi, the founder, educator, and creative mind behind Greek My Mind. Maria holds a B.A. in Classics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where her studies included Classical Greek, Greek Papyrology, Modern Greek Literature, and Linguistics. She also pursued studies in Theatre Studies, completed specialized seminars in linguistics and teaching Greek as a foreign language, and holds an MBA in Business Administration and Marketing.
Maria began teaching Greek in 2011 and has specialized in teaching Greek as a foreign language since 2015. Over the years, she has taught students from all over the world and from every walk of life—from 4 to 80 years old. She has guided learners through every stage of their journey, and has seen students progress from complete beginners all the way to C2, as well as successfully earn their Certificate of Attainment in Greek (Ellinomatheia).
She is also the mind behind Greek My Mind’s original e-books, podcasts, listening activities, tests, exercises, and learning materials. At the heart of her teaching is her own Mind Map Method, developed to make Greek easier to visualize, understand, remember, and use. Today, this approach is at the core of her own lessons and is followed by the entire Greek My Mind teaching team.
For Maria, learning Greek has never been only about grammar and vocabulary. Language is a connection to a country—its people, traditions, customs, humor, food, music, and everyday life. That is why Greek My Mind combines structured learning with real-life Greek and cultural immersion, helping students connect not only with the language, but with Greece itself.
Above all, Maria believes there is no one-size-fits-all way to learn a language. Every student has different goals, strengths, challenges, interests, and ways of learning. The teaching should adapt to the student—not the other way around.
And after all these years, teaching Greek is still something she genuinely loves. Many students have even become lifelong friends—because, in the end, learning a language is all about connection.
